The Pilates Method Alliance’s 25th-anniversary conference brought teachers, educators, studio owners and movement professionals together in Florida on 17–18 October to discuss education, teaching practice and the profession’s next phase.
The Pilates Method Alliance (PMA) marked its 25th anniversary with a two-day conference at Palm Beach Atlantic University in West Palm Beach, Florida, on 17–18 October 2026. The event brought together Pilates teachers, educators, studio owners, students and other movement professionals under the theme “Pilates Forward. Together.”
The programme combined educational workshops, movement sessions and professional discussions covering teaching, programme design, studio operations and the adaptation of mat repertoire for contemporary clients. Industry exhibitors were also part of the weekend, giving attendees opportunities to connect with equipment and service providers alongside the educational programme.
Founded in 2001, the PMA describes itself as an international professional association focused on advancing Pilates education, supporting teachers and connecting the Pilates community. The anniversary conference therefore functioned both as a professional-development event and as a reflection on how the method and its teaching standards are evolving as Pilates reaches larger and more diverse audiences.
The event matters internationally because Pilates professionals increasingly work across different training systems, business models and client populations. Sessions addressing practical teaching and studio management can be especially relevant to instructors and owners navigating growth while trying to maintain quality, clarity and professional identity. However, the conference programme itself is not evidence that any particular teaching approach is superior; its value lies in the exchange of ideas, education and professional networking.
A separately ticketed anniversary gala and awards ceremony was held on 17 October at The Ben in West Palm Beach, recognising contributions to Pilates education, innovation and preservation of the method. With the PMA entering its next quarter-century, the conference offered a visible statement of the organisation’s continuing role in shaping professional conversation around Pilates.
