Merrithew has launched the Maple NX3 MAX, its first wood Reformer, combining a larger carriage, quicker resistance changes and expanded movement space for professional studios, clubs, hotels and wellness facilities.
Merrithew has introduced the Maple NX3 MAX, its first wood Reformer, in a product launch dated 6 October 2026. The company says the machine was developed with input from product engineers, STOTT PILATES Master Instructor Trainers and instructors from other Pilates methods.
The NX3 MAX features a 26-by-40-inch carriage, described by Merrithew as its largest to date, along with extended rails and longer carriage travel. Its EasyShift Gearbar allows resistance to be changed across four positions without removing springs, while the company says an eight-wheel rolling system is designed to provide a smooth and quiet carriage movement.
Other features include FastLock shoulder rests, a locking footbar with four positions and a multi-position platform extender. The Reformer is made from FSC-certified maple and is aimed at boutique studios, premium fitness clubs, hotels and wellness centres. Merrithew presents the wood finish as part of the apparatus’s visual role within a studio environment, as well as a structural design choice.
For instructors and studio owners, the most relevant claims concern workflow and programming: quicker adjustments could reduce transition time between exercises, while the larger carriage and extended travel may offer more room for different body sizes and movement choices. These are manufacturer claims rather than independently tested findings, and the announcement does not provide pricing, comparative testing or published evidence showing that the design improves client outcomes.
The launch reflects the continuing professionalisation and premium positioning of Reformer Pilates equipment. As studios compete on teaching quality, space and client experience, apparatus design is increasingly part of the business decision alongside instructor training, maintenance, capacity and cost. International buyers will need to weigh the NX3 MAX’s features against local pricing, servicing arrangements, room dimensions and the needs of their particular clientele.
