NordicTrack’s Ultra 1 combines a home reformer with an integrated display and guided digital classes, highlighting both the opportunities and limits of connected equipment for Pilates practice outside the studio.

NordicTrack has introduced the Ultra 1, its first reformer designed specifically for home use, in a development that reflects the growing overlap between Pilates equipment, digital instruction and connected fitness. The machine combines a reformer bed with an integrated screen for accessing iFIT classes, while its design focuses on simplifying setup for home users.

According to Marie Claire UK’s hands-on review, the Ultra 1 uses push-button resistance controls rather than exposed manually adjusted springs. The display shows spring engagement and footbar position in real time, giving users visual confirmation that the apparatus has been configured correctly. The review also notes that the screen can tilt, pivot or swivel so it does not interfere with movement.

The product was tested in a one-to-one session with Yvette McGaffin, iFIT’s director of Pilates and founder of Reform RX. McGaffin told the publication that the machine was designed around home use rather than simply adapting a traditional reformer. The article also reports that the model includes a five-year frame warranty, two years of parts and labour cover and a 30-day trial period.

For Pilates professionals, the launch is significant less because it replaces studio teaching than because it shows how manufacturers are trying to reduce the practical barriers to home reformer practice. The review acknowledges that an instructor’s physical observation and hands-on adjustments remain difficult to reproduce remotely. That limitation matters: connected feedback may support consistency and basic setup, but it does not establish that a digital system can match expert teaching, individual assessment or safe adaptation for every user. The Ultra 1 therefore represents a technology and access development, rather than evidence that home equipment is equivalent to in-person instruction.
